About Blooms & Design
Who is Blooms & Design? We're a wedding planning, coordination, and florals studio based in Cochrane, Alberta. We've been planning and designing weddings across Calgary and the Rockies since 2015.
What services do you offer? We offer full planning, partial planning & coordination, month-of coordination, and wedding florals. We also plan elopements and marriage proposals.
Can we book planning and florals together? Yes, and a lot of our couples do. Having one team handle your planning and your florals means fewer handoffs and one person who knows every detail of your day.
Who will we actually work with? You'll work directly with Niki, our owner and lead planner and designer, from your first call to your last dance. Our behind-the-scenes team supports production and setup.
How many weddings do you take on? We take one wedding per week. That way your wedding gets our full attention, not a slice of it.
What does WPICC mean? Niki holds the WPICC designation, a professional certification for wedding planners. It means formal training in planning, coordination, and vendor management, backed by more than a decade of real weddings.
What makes you different from other Calgary wedding planners and florists? [Fill in from your Differentiator doc: one or two specific reasons, e.g. the one-wedding-per-week model, planning + florals under one roof, mountain venue experience.]
Where can we see your work? Our portfolio and the Petals and Plans blog show real weddings we've planned and designed. You can also follow along on Instagram at @bloomsanddesignyyc.
Service area
Where are you located? Our studio is in Cochrane, Alberta, right between Calgary and the mountains.
What areas do you serve? We plan and design weddings in Calgary, Cochrane, Canmore, and Banff, plus the surrounding Bow Valley and foothills. We also take on select destination weddings.
Do you do Banff weddings? Yes. Banff is one of our favourite places to work, from hotel ballrooms to lakeside ceremonies. We know the venues, the logistics, and how mountain timelines really run.
Do you do Canmore weddings? Yes. We regularly plan and design weddings at Canmore venues, including mountain lodges, golf courses, and private properties.
Are you a Calgary wedding planner? Yes. We're based just west of the city in Cochrane and plan weddings across Calgary, from downtown hotels to country venues outside city limits.
Do you travel for destination weddings? We take on a small number of destination weddings each year. Reach out with your location and date and we'll let you know if it's a fit.
Do you charge travel fees? [Fill in: e.g. which areas are included, and how travel and accommodation are billed for Banff, Canmore, and destination weddings.]
Can you deliver florals to our venue in the mountains? Yes. We deliver, set up, and install florals at venues across Calgary, Canmore, Banff, and the surrounding area.
Planning & coordination
What's the difference between full planning, partial planning, and month-of coordination? Full planning means we're with you from the start, building your budget, vendor team, design, and timeline. Partial planning & coordination is for couples who've started but want a pro to guide the rest. Month-of coordination is for couples who've planned it all and want us to take over the details and run the day.
What's included in full planning? Our full planning package, From the Beginning, covers [fill in: e.g. budget planning, venue and vendor sourcing, design direction, contract review, timeline building, rehearsal, and wedding day management].
What's included in partial planning & coordination? The Creative Partnership is for couples who have some pieces in place. It includes [fill in: e.g. vendor recommendations for the remaining pieces, design support, planning check-ins, timeline building, and wedding day management].
What's included in month-of coordination? The Perfect Finish starts [fill in: number of weeks] before your wedding. We confirm every vendor, build your timeline, run your rehearsal, and manage the wedding day so you can be present.
Do you offer day-of coordination? No, and that's on purpose. A coordinator who meets your plan on the morning of your wedding is guessing. Month-of coordination gives us time to learn your vendors and catch problems before they happen.
Which planning package is right for us? If you haven't booked a venue yet, full planning is usually the best fit. If you have your venue and a few vendors, look at partial planning. If everything is booked and you want someone to run the day, month-of is for you. A discovery call is the easiest way to decide.
Do you help choose vendors? Yes. With full and partial planning we recommend photographers, caterers, DJs, and other vendors we trust, matched to your style and budget.
Will you be at our rehearsal? [Fill in: confirm which packages include running the rehearsal.]
Do you handle setup and teardown on the wedding day? Our coordination packages include managing setup and making sure every vendor knows the plan. [Fill in: what your team physically sets up and packs down, e.g. décor, signage, personal items.]
How many hours are you there on the wedding day? [Fill in: coverage hours, or "from vendor arrival until the end of the reception."]
Do you plan weddings of any size? [Fill in: e.g. guest count range, and whether intimate weddings are a good fit.]
Can you help with our wedding timeline? Yes. Every coordination and planning package includes a full wedding day timeline, built around your venue, photos, and sunset.
Wedding florals
What wedding florals do you design? Everything from bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages to ceremony arches, aisle arrangements, centrepieces, bud vases, and large installations.
Do you only do florals, or do we need to book planning too? You can book florals on their own. Many of our couples book florals only, and some add planning or coordination later.
How does the florals process work? We start with a discovery call and preliminary pricing. Once your contract and booking fee are in, we build an in-depth floral proposal with flower varieties, styles, and every piece itemized.
What is the Studio Collection? The Studio Collection is our designer's choice option. You share your inspiration photos and colours, and our team chooses the blooms and sizing. It's a great fit for elopements and smaller weddings.
Can we choose specific flowers? Yes. With our custom florals we design around the flowers you love. Some blooms are seasonal or limited, so we'll suggest close matches if your favourite isn't available on your date.
What flowers are in season for a fall wedding in Alberta? [Fill in: your go-to fall blooms, e.g. dahlias, garden roses, chrysanthemums.] Ask us about any season, we'll tell you what's at its best for your date.
Do you use local flowers? [Fill in: whether you source from local Alberta growers in season, and when.]
Do you rent arches, vases, or décor? Yes. See our Rentals page for arches, vessels, and décor pieces that pair with our florals. [Fill in: confirm rentals are only with floral bookings, or available on their own.]
Do you deliver and set up florals? Yes. We deliver, set up, and install at your venue. Teardown and pack-up are priced separately from delivery and setup.
Can you move ceremony florals to the reception? Yes. We can transition arrangements from the ceremony to the reception so your florals work twice as hard.
Can you recreate an arrangement from Pinterest? We'll use your Pinterest photos as inspiration and design something that fits your venue, season, and budget. We don't copy another florist's work, but we'll capture the feel you love.
Do you do dried or silk flowers? [Fill in: yes or no.]
Can we keep our bouquet after the wedding? Yes, your personal flowers are yours to keep. [Fill in: whether you offer or recommend a bouquet preservation partner.]
Pricing & budget
How much do wedding flowers cost in Calgary? Most of our couples invest [fill in: typical range] in wedding florals. The biggest factors are guest count, how many installations you want, and the flowers you choose. Try our floral budget builder for a quick estimate.
Do you have a minimum spend for wedding florals? Yes. Our minimum floral spend is $3,000 before delivery and installation.
How much is a boutonniere? Traditional boutonnieres are $49 each. Pocket boutonnieres are $78 each.
How much is a corsage? Corsages are $78 each.
How much are bud vases? Our bud vases hold two to three stems and usually run $32 to $38 each. They're an easy way to fill tables without a big centrepiece budget.
What does the Studio Collection cost? [Fill in: Studio Collection starting prices from your simplified price list.]
How much does a wedding planner cost in Calgary? Our full planning starts at [fill in], partial planning & coordination starts at [fill in], and month-of coordination starts at [fill in].
Is delivery and setup included in the floral price? Delivery and installation are added on top of your floral total. Teardown and pack-up are priced separately. Your proposal lists each one clearly.
How can we make our florals go further on a smaller budget? Focus on the pieces people see most: your bouquet, the ceremony backdrop, and the head table. Move ceremony florals to the reception, use bud vases, and choose in-season flowers. The Studio Collection is also a smart option.
Do you offer a budget builder or estimate tool? Yes. Our floral budget builder gives you a ballpark before you reach out, so you can come to your discovery call with a clear starting point.
How much do elopements and proposals cost? Elopement and proposal pricing is custom, built around your location, florals, and how much planning you need. Book a discovery call and we'll put a quote together.
Booking, deposits & payment
How do we get started? Book a discovery call at bloomsanddesign.com/booking-calendar/book-a-discovery-call. It's a relaxed chat about your plans, your venue, and what you need from us.
What happens on the discovery call? We'll talk through your date, venue, guest count, style, and budget. Then we'll let you know which services fit and what next steps look like.
How far in advance should we book? [Fill in: e.g. 12 to 18 months for full planning and summer dates, 6 to 9 months for florals or month-of coordination.]
Is our date available? We take one wedding per week, so popular summer weekends fill quickly. Reach out with your date and we'll confirm availability right away.
How do we secure our date? Your date is reserved once your contract is signed and your booking fee is received. [Fill in: booking fee amount or percentage.]
How do we pay the deposit? We accept deposits by e-transfer to niki@bloomsanddesign.com.
When is the final payment due? [Fill in: final payment timing, e.g. 30 days before the wedding.]
Do you offer payment plans? [Fill in: yes or no, and how payments are split.]
Is the booking fee refundable? [Fill in: your contract's terms for booking fees and cancellations.]
What if we need to change our wedding date? [Fill in: your date-change policy, e.g. we'll move your booking to a new date if we're available.]
Can we change our floral order after booking? Yes. Your floral proposal is a starting point, and we'll refine it with you as your plans come together. [Fill in: your final changes deadline.]
What's your guest count deadline? [Fill in: when you need final numbers for centrepieces and personal flowers.]
Mountain wedding logistics
Do we need a permit to get married in Banff National Park? If your ceremony is on Parks Canada land, like a lakeshore or viewpoint, you'll need a permit from Parks Canada. We'll walk you through it and build it into your timeline. Check Parks Canada for current rules and fees.
What's the best time of year for a mountain wedding? June through September gives you the warmest weather and longest days. Fall brings golden larches and fewer crowds. Winter weddings are cozy and quieter, with more venue availability.
What happens if it rains or snows? Mountain weather changes fast, even in July. Every outdoor wedding we plan has a backup location and a clear call time for switching to Plan B.
How do flowers hold up outdoors in the mountains? We choose sturdy, well-hydrated blooms for outdoor pieces and time setup to keep them fresh. Wind, sun, and altitude are all part of how we design and secure installations.
What time should our ceremony start for the best light? It depends on your date and location. Mountains block the sun earlier than you'd expect, so we plan your timeline around actual sunset and shadows at your venue.
Do you know mountain wedding venues? Yes. We've worked across Banff, Canmore, and the Bow Valley, and we know load-in rules, setup windows, and quirks at many local venues.
Can you help guests get to a mountain venue? With planning packages, we help arrange shuttles and guest transportation, and we build travel time into your timeline.
Are there extra considerations for Banff or Canmore weddings? Yes: travel time from Calgary, highway conditions, accommodation for vendors, and venue access rules. We plan for all of it so you don't have to.
Elopements & proposals
Do you plan elopements? Yes. We plan and design elopements in Banff, Canmore, and across the Rockies, from just the two of you to a small group of family and friends.
What's included in elopement planning? Every elopement is custom. We can help with location scouting, permits, vendors like your photographer and officiant, florals, and a simple timeline for the day.
Can we book just elopement florals? Yes. A bouquet and boutonniere, or a small ceremony piece, are easy to add. The Studio Collection is a great fit for elopements.
Where can we elope near Banff or Canmore? There are lakes, viewpoints, and private properties that work beautifully for an elopement. We'll suggest spots that fit your season, group size, and how far you want to hike.
Do you plan marriage proposals? Yes. We plan and coordinate proposals in Calgary and the mountains, handling the location, setup, florals, and timing so the moment goes exactly as you pictured.
What kinds of proposals have you planned? Anything from a private mountain setup to something surprising in the city, like a proposal at a movie theatre. If you can picture it, we'll figure out how to pull it off.
How far ahead should I plan a proposal? [Fill in: e.g. 4 to 6 weeks is ideal, though we can sometimes move faster.]
Can you help keep the proposal a surprise? Yes. We coordinate directly with you, keep every detail quiet, and plan cues and timing so your partner never sees it coming.
How much does proposal planning cost? Proposal pricing is custom and depends on location, florals, and setup. Reach out and we'll build a quote around your idea.
